Following several private VIP viewings of the new Vanquish at Gaydon, the Vanquish UK Tour commenced from the “home of Aston Martin” last autumn. The car was transported around the UK in its own special liveried car, over four weeks, visiting all 20 of Aston Martin’s UK dealerships. The Vanquish’s media launch was held at Tyringham Hall, Buckinghamshire (above), and attended by 150 journalists. They were then taken for a tour of the refurbished Aston Martin Works facility and a technical talk on the marque’s newest model by Product Development Director Ian Minards, followed by a drive on a pre-set route to the Jockey Club Rooms in Newmarket. Ari Vatanen, former World Rally champion, was among the guests putting the car through its paces.
“It’s elegant like Garbo, voluptuous like Monroe. It is — fact — the most beautiful production car currently on sale.”
“This, truly, is a car built for British roads, and if supercar buyers value such things, they will laud the new Vanquish above all for this.”
“Sleek, roguishly aristocratic and gallingly fast, the 2014 Vanquish represents another 100 or so man-years of development applied to the Aston template.”
Last September, more than 130 Aston Martin owners and guests took to the world famous Spa Francorchamps race track in Belgium in everything from an Aston Martin One-77 to a V8 Vantage to hone and improve their skills with qualified instructors on this perfectly designed track. In November, 25 drivers and guests took on Australia’s 2.8 mile fast and flowing Phillip Island circuit, which overlooks the Bass Strait. In New Zealand, the demanding Taupo Motorsport Park (right) with its 14 corners challenged 20 drivers and their guests.

Aston Martin hosted the latest Ladies Networking Event in October at Aston Martin W-One, its stylish events space in London’s Park Lane. Guests gathered to debate the question “Business networking: do Women do it differently to men?” and enjoyed the fine hospitality while admiring the stunning styling and enhanced luxury of the beautiful new DB9 Volante.
The debate began with varied and challenging questions to the panel, which included Michael van der Sande, Chief Commercial Officer, Aston Martin Lagonda UK. The responses given, and the ensuing debates, were illuminating and thought-provoking.
The new DB9 was launched to the media in the south of France in October. Over 30 journalists from the UK and Europe attended along with Aston Martin CEO Dr Ulrich Bez.

Paralympic gold medallist Richard Whitehead visited Aston Martin’s Gaydon headquarters in November, where he was given a factory tour and a ride in a Rapide. Whitehead, an astonishingly versatile athlete who holds the world record for both the 200m and the marathon, was left behind at the start of the 2012 200m final in the Olympic stadium but thrilled the crowd as he stormed from last to first in the home straight to clinch victory in one of the unforgettable moments of the Games.
Aston Martin donated a specially designed Cygnet to be auctioned to raise funds at the Fashion for the Brave event in aid of the Household Calvary Operational Casualties Fund in London last September. Jeffrey Archer acted as auctioneer, fielding some very competitive bidding between Sir Philip Green and another guest. Overall, the event raised more than £250,000.
